Finest Quality Bentwood Coatstand

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Waterfall Antiques

A very fine quality late-Victorian/early 20th century bentwood hat and coat stand. The downswept supports, terminating in stepped feet, hold a central tapering four-cluster-column upright with eight dramatically scrolling hat and coat pegs. The column is surmounted by a beehive finial with a similarly turned inverted finial below, and there is a circular retainer for umbrellas and sticks. This beautiful example of a bentwood hat and coat stand is of the best quality we ever see. It has its original finish with a good depth of colour and a glowing patination and is presented in superb condition. English, dating from c.1890 – c.1920.
