Here is an example of a very good quality antique oak Welsh hanging wall rack, circa 1760 -1790 originating from Wales. The hanging rack features a protruding canopy. Below there is a very pretty shaped pierced and scallop frieze. The rack features three shelves each with the original plat rack groove to assist with standing plates upright and stopping them sliding off the shelf. The shelves also feature the original 12 iron cup hooks. The rack features lovely wide panelled original pine backboards. The sides of the rack feature a waterfall design. The rack features a stunning original ox-blood colour and patination. The rack comes will wall attachments to allow you to hang it onto the wall.

This item in in excellent original condition and this is what gives them their lovely patination and colour, which has been generated by the years of cleaning and care they have received.

Condition Report:

The rack is in excellent condition, which is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The rack features its original 12 iron hand made cup hooks. The rack comes will wall attachments to allow you to hang it onto the wall. Free of woodworm, solid in joint (does not wobble) and ready to use.

Dimensions:

External height = 121cm or 47½” or 3ft 11½”

External width = 142cm or 56” or 4ft 8”

External depth = 30cm or 12” or 1ft

Maximum height between top shelf and roof = 40.7cm or 16” or 1ft 4”

Maximum height of middle shelf = 25cm or 9¾”

Maximum height of lower shelf = 22.8cm or 9”

Depth of shelves = 15cm or 6”
