Description

Mid 19th.c. French carved wooden Nubian figure holding a lacquered papier maché tray, designed as a novelty salver or card holder and dating from the era of French colonial expansion in Africa. Fantastic detail with porcelain eyes, painted teeth and original gold metal earings, medallian and chain. Original tray with beautiful lacquered and painted scene with bird and butterfly. Excellent condition.

Dimensions: height 13", width 8", depth 8".
