Birmingham 1902 Solid Silver Repousse Tray Made by Henry Matthews.

Description

Birmingham 1902 English hallmarked solid silver very good quality rectangular tray with crimped wrythen edges, interesting dragon, arrow and Prince of Wales feathers family crest to centre, with Latin motto in banner underneath, In Modestia Servio, translating to "I Serve In Modesty."

It is a very good weight, and all over very attractive and crisp repousse foliate design.

Made by Henry Matthews of Birmingham, maker of many vanity sets and trays.

Size-10 inches long by 7.5 inches wide.

Weight-220 grams.

The price has been reduced, as small splits were detected in the indented parts of the upper wrythen just on the edge. They are in the main quite difficult to see, and don't detract from the overall look. The tray is now priced according to these conditions.

A lovely and decorative antique tray for desk or dressing table, and a great value for this weight of silver.
