Early 19thc Charming Needlework Sampler in Original Frame.

Description

Early 19th century undated sampler on linen by Jane Tappern comprising a central house design bordered by trees, with the trees continuing around the sampler edges. Also includes the alphabet, two dogs, and this charming verse:

"Let no mans mind on earthly things be bent. But having food and raiement be content. Sweet is the work my God my king. To praise thy name give thanks and sing."

In original glazed gilt appropriately leaf embellished frame, and in good condition with some slight staining to one area as pictured.

10.5 inches wide by 13 inches high.
