The two single bone pins (one stained red and one natural) are pressed to release the chessmen for play to commence. Once finished, the four outer natural buttons are pressed in to lock the pieces in place, to enable this, you must ensure all pieces are in properly.

The board frame is impressed with the famous "Jaques Patentee London" mark and opposite " In Statu Quo" and "Chess Board".
Made from Mahogany with a screwed construction, the box remains in superb used condition. 9" x 9" while open.
