C1830 Sarcophagus Shape Fitted Workbox

19th century
Description

Lovely circa 1830, late Regency/Wm. IV sarcophagus topped figured mahogany fitted interior work, jewellery or sewing box over fluted pedestal on shaped base with bun feet. Ivory escutcheon. Box and stand are original to each other. Interior has been relined at some stage in silver paper and red felt.

Top divided inner tray lifts up to reveal large lower storage section.

Box portion is 15.25 inches wide by 11.75 inches deep, by 7 inches high to edge, not including the rising sarcophagus part of top.

With stand, the workbox is 29 inches high, not including the sarcophagus part of top.

In excellent condition.
