The original edition of 1766 commands figures around £20,000. This is the last edition to use the original engraved plates by Stubbs himself. Sir Alfred Munnings stated ' This is the most unique thing of its type ever compiled'.
He moved to London in about 1759 and in 1766 published The anatomy of the Horse. The original drawings are now in the collection of the Royal Academy. This book includes a particular description of the bones, cartilages, muscles, fascias, ligaments, nerves, arteries, veins and glands.
