Large 19th Century Chinese Hardwood Opium Table

Description

As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this larger than usual Chinese hardwood (possibly hongmu or padouk rosewood )opium coffee table , this solid panel topped table stands with a pair of scrolling legs at each end above which is a knotted fretwork panel, the side of these legs are formed as dragons at each end , if you follow the pattern towards the middle of each side frieze you will see they are chasing the flaming pearl , a very clever but intricate design .

This table is longer than normal at 43" , it has a solid panelled top and is very sturdy and heavy , there are some old useage marks under the polish and a slight age move of the top panel joint , it is simply as nice as they come , the colour is original and superb , do not hesitate if you want a great Chinese coffee table ,it is the best we have had for years !
