The Antique Partnership has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The stand has a scrolled foot foliate carved tripod base with an octagonal column within which slides a vertical brass tube. This is lockable with a brass and iron locking nut but is so well made that it will adjust perfectly without it.

The top is adjustable in all directions and in addition slides to right and left (possibly suitable for duets ?). The top will also lock in the horizontal position. The folio rest detaches and has 2 locating rings on the underside where it can be stored when not in use. The whole is very well made and there is evidence of a makers/retailers cartouche which has unfortunately been lost.

The top measures 39 cms by 39 cms.
The stand will adjust to a maximum of 137 cms high with the top at reading angle the rest in this position being 105 cms. At its lowest the corresponding measurements are 91 high and 58.5 respectively. At its lowest with the top flat the stand is 77.5 cms high.
The spread of the feet is 43 cms.
