Superb Japanese Stag Antler Netsuke Shi Shi Meiji Period 1868-1912

Description

We are pleased to be able to offer this great little netsuke as part of our oriental collection , carved in the 19th century from stag antler in the form of a shi shi dog clambering upon a rock , great carved and stained detail throughout , he is so good he even has a ball rolling around inside his mouth behind those rows of teeth ! , i have listed him as Japanese due to his quality and mecium although there is a chance he could be Chinese ? either way it does not affect the appeal of this great netsuke .

Condition is great with no damage at all to report .

Approximate size 3.75cm x 3.75cm
