Steve Sly Japanese Works of Art has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The condition i am going to describe as shabby chic !
It has gilt loss here and there and the marble has seen some action on a couple of edges including the front left which has had a slither filled in , i am probably being harsh but fair , i found it in a dining room supporting a hotplate ,its very sturdy and quite classy , can you give it a more appropriate use in your house .
