The box came with the Chess set, which is of course later, but a good sized Staunton designed set in Boxwood and Ebony with the King standing 3 1/2".
A good early box dating to the late William IV era or early Victorian era, around 1830 / 1840. A superb piece in excellent condition, measuring 15" square and each tile measuring 1 1/2" square.
