A fine silk reticule from the Georgian period. The purse is made in fine black silk which has then been embroidered with polished steel beadwork on one side this design is a peacocks head crest within scrolling foliage and on the other side it is the letter ''C'' within scrolling foliage. The peacocks head and the letter ''C'' obviously refer to a family but i have been unable to locate them. The reticule has a fringing of steel beads and silk rope handles, the interior is lined with bright blue silk making a beautiful contrast. The whole is in worn condition appropriate to material and age. C.1800
