A needlework picture of an Arab Stallion in Egyptian setting. The horse is worked in silk in Berlin plush stitch, with the mane and shading of the horse cleverly worked into the plushwork. The backing is in wool and in the background can rather charmingly be seen a Palm tree and a Pyramid. The Horse has the style and stance of a Stubbs Horse and it maybe that it was worked from one of his paintings or one of his books, i think the setting is imaginary, as i would think that the only thing a lady of leisure or child would have associated with an Arab Stallion would have been a Palm tree and a Pyramid. These needlework animals and needlework pictures of animals in general from the Nineteenth century are not uncommon but i can find no other record and have certainly never seen myself another Horse.
