Description

A fabulous quality folding games box for Chess and Checkers (or Draughts as this is known in England), made from stunning Burl Walnut with squares in exotic Fruitwood timbers and surrounding by parquetry inlay. The box comes complete with a complete Staunton style weighted chess set in Boxwood and Ebony and a complete checkers set in Boxwood. The King from the chess set measuring 3" tall. Minor wear to the the period chess set and felts underneath, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy.

Dating to the late Victorian era, c.1890 in excellent condition. The box while closed measures 15 1/2" x 7 3/4".
