Antique French Mahogany & Brass Stationery Caddy / Letter Holder C.1900

1900 - 1920
Sold by Puckerings
Description

A wonderful quality letter or stationery rack, dating to the turn of the Century, around 1900 and French in origin; with the underside signed with an impressed mark, " J.M. Paillard, Paris ", there also looks to be some small inscribed initials, possibly those of the skilled craftsman who made this example.

The caddy is made up from solid Mahogany with a screwed construction, with tiny brass screws, another sign of true quality.

The box is beautifully inlaid with brass stringing, including the back .. so would look good on a desk facing out into a room.

A fabulous and very usable desk top accessory, perfect for modern day stationery or letters, with a footprint measuring 12 1/2" x 5 7/8" x 6 5/8" tall to top of rear panel. The internal width of the compartments measures 11 5/8".

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
