Large Antique English Cast Brass Lectern / Book Rest C.1880

Description

A very handsome and rather unusual example of a late Victorian book rest or Lectern made from solid cast brass.

Standing on four handsome shaped legs, the front is beautifully ornate with a foliate brass book rest. It's angle can be easily adjusted by moving the easel back up or down the ridges.

This one is a good solid gauge and ready to take a fairly large book, the open book I have displayed is fairly small, 7 1/2" x 5" while closed. The larger book I show " The Englishman's Room " is a fairly large book, 11" x 8 3/4"; this should give you a reasonable indication of what it could be used for.

Excellent quality and condition, measuring 12 1/2" x 9".
