This Victorian coffee grinder is a manual machine belonging to the rustic farmhouse style, made from cast iron, brass, and wood with a black and brass colour scheme. The piece displays a brass hopper with a decorative patterned base, a curved crank arm ending in a turned wooden knob, and a square body fitted with a small removable front drawer that has a rounded brass pull knob. It also incorporates side mounting tabs for surface attachment and a circular brass plaque bearing a coat of arms on the front face. Showing light surface wear consistent with age, the item stands 15 cm tall to the top of the wooden knob. Positioned on a kitchen island or wooden work surface, the coffee grinder serves as a decorative antique accent or functional manual grinder for daily kitchen use. Its compact size permits placement on open shelving, countertops, or side tables, bringing historic character and traditional craftsmanship into domestic spaces.

Archibald Kenrick & Sons was established in West Bromwich, England, in 1791, specialising in cast iron hardware and kitchenalia. During the nineteenth century, the company produced a wide range of hand-cranked coffee mills designed for domestic and commercial grinding.

Victorian and Edwardian coffee grinders were predominantly made using heavy cast iron bodies for stability, steel grinding mechanisms, brass hoppers or bowls, and turned wooden handles and drawer knobs.

Authentic pieces feature a stamped brass plaque or cast lettering indicating the makers name and location, alongside size numbers cast into the iron body or base plate.

A cast iron coffee mill serves as a functional display piece on a kitchen island, open pantry shelving, or a dining room sideboard alongside period culinary items.

Clean the exterior using a soft, dry cloth to remove dust, and apply a light coating of food-grade mineral oil to cast iron components to prevent oxidisation and corrosion.
