This Edwardian Arts and Crafts side table dates from the period around 1910 and bears the metal maker's label of Dryad to the underside. Formed from a combination of cane, rattan, and hardwood in a natural tan colourway, the piece displays a circular top above a woven wicker apron with an arched profile. Supported by cane-wrapped upright legs, the construction is united by an intertwined lower cross-stretcher, while the base terminates in plain turned feet showing minor age-related wear and treated historical woodworm holes. Practical for placement at the end of a sofa or within a sunlit conservatory, the table provides a compact surface for everyday use in a living space. Measuring 71 cm in height with a width and depth of 59 cm, this original documented design by Benjamin Fletcher functions as a versatile occasional table combining traditional woven materials with sturdy structural framing.

Founded in Leicester during the early twentieth century, Dryad Cane Works produced woven wicker and rattan furniture closely associated with the British Arts and Crafts movement.

These pieces were typically constructed from steam-bent hardwood frames wrapped in natural cane, rattan reeds, and tightly woven wicker strands.

Authentic period pieces frequently display maker plaques, sturdy joint construction, dense weave work, and characteristically arched structural stretchers.

An antique wicker table introduces organic texture into living areas, working effectively beside upholstered seating, in sunrooms, or as a botanical display stand.

Keep natural cane away from direct heat sources to prevent brittleness, dust gently with a soft brush, and maintain stable indoor humidity.
