Massive solid walnut timber: heavy duty construction for agricultural press work.
Scatter of old flight holes: natural ageing of the timber.
Softened edges along the thread: prolonged working pressure and handling.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Historically, large wooden screw threads served as primary mechanical components in traditional French wine and cider presses, operated manually to apply pressure during fruit processing.

These components were hand-carved from dense hardwoods such as walnut, oak, or elm, which offered the tensile strength required to withstand high operational pressure.

Authentic examples feature visible hand-tool mark variations along the thread, natural timber movement cracks, deep age patina, and specific mechanical wear patterns around the head.

Architectural elements of this scale function effectively as standalone floor sculptures, plant pedestals, or decorative vertical accents in corners and stairwells.

Position the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement, and apply clear wax polish periodically to preserve the surface finish and original patina.
