Description

An attractive Regency mahogany fold-over tea table, raised on an elegant pedestal base with swept sabre supports, circa 1810.

The rectangular fold-over top, with canted corners and a reeded edge, opens to provide a larger surface, revealing a beautifully figured mahogany interior. The top is supported by a sliding rear section, which extends to provide additional stability when opened.

The frieze is decorated with a central rectangular panel with contrasting stringing, above a finely turned and reeded pedestal. The table stands on four graceful swept sabre supports, each terminating in a brass cap and castor.

A particularly elegant and practical example of Regency furniture, displaying pleasing proportions and the warm colour and attractive grain of the mahogany.
