Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

This set of five antique tea canisters dates from the early part of the twentieth century in the Victorian Industrial style. Each cylindrical piece is constructed from tinplate with a japanned black finish, fitted with a hinged iron lid, and decorated with hand-painted gold numerals ranging from one to five, accented with red detailing. Signs of age include surface wear, patina, and scuffs to the dark paintwork. The bases are marked with a crown and the letters GR, confirming their origin. Each canister measures 25 cm in height and 18 cm in depth. Suitable for placement on a kitchen island or a pantry shelf in a home today, these functional vessels serve as storage containers for tea or dry goods, bringing practical utility alongside period charm to a rustic farmhouse or traditional kitchen interior.

Commercial tin tea canisters were used by nineteenth and early twentieth-century grocers to store bulk loose tea leaves safely from moisture and light before sale.

These storage vessels were typically constructed from tinplate sheet iron, finished with dark japanned lacquer or enamel paint, and decorated with hand-painted gold leaf numerals.

Authentic examples feature rolled tin rims, soldered seams, genuine age-related oxidisation, stamped maker or government revenue marks, and hand-gilded or stencilled numbering.

Grouped sets can be displayed on kitchen open shelving, sideboards, or kitchen islands to add texture and historical character to modern rustic or industrial spaces.

Clean gently using a dry microfibre cloth to remove dust, avoiding water or harsh abrasive chemical cleaners that could strip original paintwork or accelerate rusting.
