This Danish Modern figurine depicts a young girl in traditional attire holding a stick and standing beside a white goose. Produced in 1910 by Royal Copenhagen and designed by Christian Thomsen, the piece takes the form of a glazed porcelain sculpture with underglaze decoration on an integral oval base. The colour palette includes blue, white, and green, complemented by dark tones in the sleeves and shoes, and a dotted pattern on the headscarf. The standing figure rests her hand on her hip while gently guiding the goose along the ground. Measuring 190 mm in height, the sculpture suits placement on a bookshelf in a traditional home setting. The smooth, glossy finish catches the light across the folds of the apron and the curves of the goose's body. The oval green base grounds the composition, creating a stable display surface for interior styling. Collectors of early twentieth-century ceramics can incorporate this piece into existing displays of European porcelain and decorative figurines.

Royal Copenhagen began producing porcelain figurines in Denmark during the late eighteenth century, becoming renowned for pioneering underglaze decoration techniques that created subtle, muted tonal palettes.

These figurines are sculpted from fine kaolin clay, decorated by hand using specialized underglaze ceramic pigments, and fired at high temperatures to produce a durable, glossy finish.

Authentic pieces feature three hand-painted blue wavy lines on the base representing Denmarks waterways, alongside a crown mark, model number, and artisan initials.

Display individual porcelain figurines on open shelving, sideboards, or mantelpieces alongside structured books and natural materials to add texture and historical character.

Dust figurines regularly with a soft, clean brush or microfibre cloth, and wash gently in lukewarm water with mild detergent if necessary, avoiding harsh chemical cleansers.
