This eighteenth-century Georgian side table displays a demilune form with a semi-circular fold-over top, a curved apron, and four slender square tapered legs. Constructed from mahogany, the timber exhibits a warm brown tone with distinct wood figuring across the top surface, complemented by fine satinwood inlaid stringing around the edge. Visible details include a gateleg mechanism to support the hinged leaf, neat edge mouldings, and straight upright legs. The visible timber grain shows minor surface wear consistent with age and daily use. Practical dimensions measure 75 cm high, 90 cm wide, and 45 cm deep. Placed against a narrow wall space in an English country house interior, it functions as a tea table or side table, suitable for holding a small lamp in a hallway, living room, or study.

A demilune tea table is a semi-circular accent table featuring a hinged, fold-over top designed to sit flush against a wall when closed or open into a circular surface for serving tea or playing cards.

Georgian tea tables were predominantly crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, often incorporating fine wood inlay stringing, hand-cut dovetail joints, and square tapered legs.

Authentic period pieces display hand-planed underside surfaces, original brass butterfly hinges, secondary timber drawer linings such as oak or pine, and natural oxidation along timber joints.

Position the table against a wall in an entryway or alcove, topped with a contemporary lamp or ceramic vessel to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern decor.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
