These Edwardian military aviation goggles date from the 1900 period and come with their original fitted storage case. The set consists of amber tinted glass lenses mounted within hinged metal frames, secured by an attached fabric head strap and accompanied by a stiff cardboard box with metal fasteners. The glass shows an amber colour, the frames display a dark metallic finish, the strap is a faded khaki fabric, and the protective container presents a rich brown tone with visible wear along the edges and surface creases. The goggles measure approximately 15 cm across the frames. They make an intriguing decorative display piece on a bookshelf within a gentleman's library or study, positioned alongside historical books and documents to evoke early aviation history.

Amber tinted lenses were utilised by early aviators to enhance visual contrast and reduce glare from cloud cover and high-altitude sunlight during open-cockpit flights.

Early flight goggles were commonly constructed with brass or nickel frames, padded fabric or leather seals to protect against wind, glass lenses, and adjustable woven elastic straps.

Authentic military goggles from this period typically exhibit period-accurate metal oxidisation, hand-stitched fabric edging, original tinted glass lenses, and occasional military issue stamps.

These items are commonly displayed on a bookshelf, desk, or inside a glass cloche alongside leather-bound books and brass instruments to create a cabinet of curiosities display.

Glass lenses should be dusted gently with a dry microfibre cloth, while metal frames and fabric straps should be kept free from harsh chemical cleaners and stored in low-humidity environments.
