This painted wooden control-line model aeroplane dates from the 1930 period, designed in a Mid-Century Modern style. The monoplane is constructed from balsa wood and metal, featuring a painted finish in green, cream and black. Visible details include the number seven painted on the fuselage, a circular club decal on the wing reading Feltham D.M.A.C., a fixed landing wheel, monoplane wings, and an original undercarriage. The piece displays extensive paint wear, surface marks and losses across its surfaces, and is suspended on a metal chain for display. Measuring H:17 W:72 D:51 cm, the model is suitable for display within a gentleman's library setting or on a bookshelf in a modern home.

Control-line model aeroplanes are tethered miniature aircraft controlled during flight by a pilot holding a handle connected to two thin steel lines. Developed in the late 1930s and widely popular throughout the 1950s, the mechanism allows the operator to control the pitch of the aircraft while flying in a circular path.

Mid-century model aircraft were typically constructed using lightweight balsa wood framing, covered in doped tissue paper or silk, and fitted with miniature internal combustion engines and small metal components.

Authentic period pieces often feature period-correct miniature engines, hand-applied painted numbering, regional flying club decals, and surface signs of fuel residue or age-related oxidisation on hardware.

These models are commonly displayed suspended from ceilings or positioned on shelving, mantelpieces, and desks within home offices, libraries, or living spaces as decorative transport collectables.

Store the item in a temperature-controlled environment away from direct sunlight and damp to prevent delicate timber from warping. Dust gently using a soft, dry brush, avoiding liquid cleaners on unsealed surfaces.
