The English Interior has dated this Antique Balochi Embroidered Dress to the 1950s.
Highly detailed with heavy embroidery (Doch) with elaborate geometric and floral needlework covering the chest area (kotto or pand) and cuffs.
It is further adorned with metallic embellishments, including silver-coloured coins, metallic discs, beads, and small metallic pendants or trinkets which have been stitched onto the front skirt and waistline, these all create rhythmic chiming sounds during movement. Decorative tassels and pom-poms made with colourful thread adorn the seams and chest panel.
This fine piece of ethnic costume is loose, flowing and designed for comfort in desert and arid climates and so it is either totally wearable or if you wish you may display as an art piece.
Flexible in terms of sizing a UK 10/12 as a dress but for larger sizes top to 18/20 could be a top, or a top for a man in size medium.
