Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency mahogany tripod tea table brings refined classical style to a traditional or contemporary interior, working well as an occasional piece or placed beside seating. The circular dished top features a figured grain and a reeded edge, revolving above a bold fluted column stem. Three shaped, reeded downswept legs extend outward to terminate in brass lion's paw feet fitted with caster wheels. The warm brown timber glows with a French polished wax finish, highlighting the natural figuring of the wood across the top and the carved mouldings on the pedestal and base. Standing at 68.5 cm high with a diameter of 73 cm, this occasional table offers a compact surface for everyday living. It suits a study, drawing room, or hallway, serving as a practical and elegant stand for books, lamps, or decorative objects while retaining its authentic period character.

FAQs

Originating in the early 19th century during the British Regency era, tripod tea tables are versatile occasional tables featuring a central stem, three downswept legs, and often a revolving or tilt-top mechanism designed for serving tea.

These tables are predominantly constructed from solid or veneered mahogany timber, featuring turned or reeded pedestals, hand-carved legs, and brass hairy paw or claw castors.

Look for period construction hallmarks such as hand-cut dovetails on the block mechanism, original brass castors secured with period screws, and natural age-related patina across the mahogany surface.

Position the table beside an armchair or sofa as an occasional surface for drinks, lamps, or books, blending historical mahogany tone with modern upholstery.

Keep wooden surfaces away from direct heat sources and sunlight, wipe away dust with a soft microfibre cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically to preserve the natural finish.
