Brief Description:
Dating to the Victorian period, this elegant table is constructed in richly figured burr walnut and is embellished with fine line inlay and decorative foliate motifs.
The hinged top incorporates a green leather writing surface and opens to reveal a wonderful fitted interior, comprising numerous individual compartments and removable sections arranged around a central lift-out tray.
The interior is particularly attractive, with intricately pierced fretwork covers, turned dark handles and original red wallpaper-lined sections, including a central section intended for sewing accessories and implements.
The central fitted tray lifts away to reveal a larger storage compartment beneath, retaining its decorative red patterned lining.
Below the top is a beautifully shaped drop-down work/storage compartment, veneered in burr walnut and decorated with delicate inlaid ornamentation.
The table is raised upon four particularly elegant turned and carved supports, united by a beautifully shaped burr walnut stretcher, and terminating in its small castors.
The quality of the cabinet work, superb figuring of the burr walnut and remarkably elaborate fitted interior make this a particularly attractive example of Victorian ladies' furniture.

Offered in good antique condition, displaying age-related wear, marks and imperfections commensurate with its age and use.
There is some wear and loss to the original interior lining, most noticeably within the concealed central compartment, together with general wear to the fitted interior and writing surface. These points are consistent with a piece of this age and have been photographed for reference.
