Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of decorative bowls and objects in the natural history specimen style consists of two nineteenth-century Tridacna gigas giant clam shells formed of calcium carbonate and shell. The shells exhibit cream and grey colours, scalloped edges, ribbed exteriors, deep interior basins, and natural fluting. One shell measures 35 cm in height by 94 cm in width and 68 cm in depth, while the other measures 35.5 cm in height by 91.5 cm in width and 68 cm in depth. Suitable for a coastal retreat design vibe, these pieces can be placed on a sideboard top as a display item, or utilised as sink basins or water features in a home setting. The natural material presents a solid and organic texture with distinct ridged outer surfaces and wide curved openings. Each specimen rests stably on a flat base, offering a generous concave cavity for various practical or ornamental placements.

Tridacna gigas, commonly known as the giant clam, is the largest living bivalve mollusc, historically collected as natural history specimens and decorative architectural basins.

These shells consist of dense calcium carbonate layers secreted by the organism over time, producing heavy, thick-walled structures with deep interior cavities.

Authentic specimens display organic growth lines, distinct exterior ridging, heavy solid mass, and natural mineral weathering rather than uniform resin casting.

Giant clam shells serve as focal decorative vessels on sideboards, dining tables, or consoles, and can hold objects or stand alone as organic sculptures.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft brush or vacuum attachment, and clean gently using warm water and mild soap while avoiding acidic chemicals.
