Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This George III Neoclassical demilune card table dates from 1930 and is rendered in honey gold satinwood, boxwood, ebony, and kingwood. The semicircular top displays elaborate diamond parquetry with stringing and a central fan inlay, while the frieze and tapered legs carry fine decorative inlays. Light repairs and polishing give the timber a warm, glowing finish. Measuring 73.5 cm high, 84.5 cm wide, and 41.5 cm deep when closed, the table stands neatly against a narrow wall space in a hallway, drawing room, or study. It functions as a decorative console surface or opens to provide a game table surface for daily home use.

FAQs

A demilune card table is a semi-circular folding table introduced in the eighteenth century, primarily crafted for card games and social entertainment. When folded, the table sits flush against a wall to serve as a console.

Georgian card tables were typically constructed from woods such as mahogany, satinwood, and rosewood, often featuring decorative boxwood stringing and geometric parquetry or marquetry inlays.

Authentic George III card tables display hand-cut joinery, original brass or iron hinges, natural timber oxidisation, and hand-cut veneer or inlay work on secondary woods like pine or oak.

A demilune table works as an entryway console or hallway accent, placed against a narrow wall with a decorative mirror or artwork mounted directly above it.

Maintain satinwood furniture by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight to avoid veneer lifting, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and applying natural beeswax annually.
