Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The underside retains the original paper and a small paper label.

The top is mounted with a handsome brass border, with all-around foliate engraving. There are two shield shaped mounts which were for engraving a presentation, but have been left untouched. Behind the inkwell, there are two supports which act as a pen rest to rest one's dip pen.

The heaving glass inkwell is in excellent shape, there is one small chip to a corner which is unseen once sitting in it's cut-out aperture.
Dating to around 1880, this certainly is an unusual find and perfect for the Frog lover.
Excellent condition, measuring 13" x 9" and the base of the glass inkwell measuring 3 3/4" across it's base.
