Lincoln Bennett & Co. was one of London's premier, elite gentlemen's hatters during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, they operated out of prestigious locations in London—most famously at Sackville Street and Piccadilly. At their peak, they were famously said to have covered "more aristocratic crowned heads in their time than any other firm in the world," holding Royal Appointments to British royalty including the Prince and Princess of Wales, and later, King Edward VII and Queen Elizabeth. The firm was sold off in the aftermath of WWII at a time when wearing hats were diminishing as a societal convention.

Lincoln Bennett & Co. was a prominent London hatter established in the 18th century, renowned for supplying high-quality top hats and bowler hats to the British aristocracy and gentry.

Formal top hats of the early 20th century were constructed using a stiffened buckram frame covered with black silk plush fabric, featuring silk grosgrain ribbon bands and leather sweatbands inside.

Authentic period top hats feature makers gold-foil stamped silk linings, genuine leather inner bands, ribbed silk edge binding on the brim, and a distinct silk plush pile that reflects light smoothly.

Stacked vintage hat boxes topped with a formal hat serve as striking decorative vignettes on entry consoles, dressing tables, or within a gentlemans library setting.

Store the hat upside down on its crown inside a dedicated fitted hat box in a moisture-controlled environment, and gently brush the silk plush in the direction of the nap using a soft velour brush.
