Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Regency drop flap table, often termed a Pembroke table, is a compact occasional table featuring hinged leaves that raise to extend the tabletop surface. Designed during the early 19th century, these pieces provided flexible functionality in living spaces and morning rooms.

Cabinetmakers primarily used timber veneers such as satinwood, mahogany, or rosewood, accentuated by decorative boxwood and ebony stringing. Internal drawer linings were typically built from oak or pine, joined with hand-cut dovetails.

Authentic Regency tables show evidence of hand-tooling, including irregular hand-cut dovetails, wooden support brackets (flies) beneath the leaves, and natural age-related patination on timber surfaces. Original brass hardware and fine marquetry or ebony stringing are also characteristic of the era.

Place the table beside a sofa or armchair as a functional accent piece, keeping decorative items minimal to highlight the timber grain. The warm golden tones of satinwood contrast effectively against modern neutral textiles and dark painted walls.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish sparingly along the timber grain once or twice a year. Keep the table away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent veneer cracking and sun fading.
