We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A William IV sewing table is a specialised piece of small furniture created during the reign of King William IV (18301837), designed specifically for storing needlework materials and accessories in the parlour.

These tables were primarily crafted from rich hardwoods such as rosewood or mahogany, often lined with fabric for the work basket beneath, and fitted with brass handles or lock plates.

Authentic pieces generally display classical influence with bolder proportions than Regency items, featuring carved lotus motifs, turned central pedestals, quadform plinths, and carved claw or paw feet.

A sewing table functions well as a compact side table or bedside nightstand, adding warmth and historical texture when paired with modern upholstered seating and minimal lighting.

Maintain the finish by dusting with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a beeswax polish annually, keeping the table away from direct heat sources and high humidity to preserve the fabric and timber.
