Georgian Lacquered Shoe Snuff Box C1830

Description

This is a black lacquered papier mache Georgian shoe snuff. This was a particular form of snuff box both with ladies and gentlemen of the period. It was a fascination which lasted through to the end of the reign of Queen Victoria. The box was designed to be carried in the pocket and the silvered flap at the end of the shoe fits tightly to keep the snuff dry. It measures approx 10cm in length and is in good condition with some age related wear. A great collectors' item.
