A George III Mahogany Inlaid Pembroke Table

Description

A fine George III Pembroke table in mahogany, the rectangular dropleaf top with a central oval inlay of satinwood with extensive penwork to create a foliate motif within a fern border, and with an extensively crossbanded and reeded edge consisting of lines of boxwood stringing, rosewood stripes around a satinwood band with fern penwork, over a frieze drawer with similarly treated satinwood band with boxwood stringing and brass handles, and a block either side with an oval patera in satinwood with penwork shadowing, and a dummy drawer to the other side, on square tapering supports with boxwood stringing and stylised floral inlay, terminating in brass casters. English circa 1790.

Condition: Excellent, the table is in very good condition with no damage or repairs, the flaps hang vertically and the drawer runs smoothly, and the handles are the originals. There have been one or two small areas of repair to the boxwood stringing, consistent with the age of the table, however overall this is a beautiful piece of furniture with a very stylish appearance and lovely colour.
