Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Regency dining table is crafted from deep brown mahogany and stands on a pedestal base. The piece has a tilt-top mechanism, reeded swept legs with brass castors, and a vertically secured tabletop showing a warm polished timber grain, carved reeding along the leg supports, and brass hardware at the base. It is presented in excellent condition with a notable patina across the wood surfaces. Measuring 180 cm high with the top up, it occupies a compact footprint when stored upright and expands to a length of 162 cm and a width of 121.5 cm with the top down. In a modern home today, this table functions as a versatile dining surface for everyday meals or formal gatherings, while also serving as a decorative feature when tilted upright against a wall to save floor space in a dining room or hallway. The grand Regency design suits traditional and period interiors, pairing well with classic seating and antique sideboards.

FAQs

Regency dining tables, originating in the early 19th century, typically feature neoclassical lines, fine mahogany construction, reeded legs, and pedestal bases often fitted with tilt-top mechanisms for flexibility.

These tables were constructed primarily from high-grade flame mahogany, supported by turned timber pedestals, and fitted with brass latches, brass end-caps, and castors.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut joinery around the tilt mechanism, hand-carved reeding on the legs, natural oxidisation on underlying timbers, and period-correct brass hardware.

A Regency dining table can be integrated into contemporary spaces by pairing it with minimalist dining chairs, simple ceramic tableware, and modern lighting to accentuate the natural wood grain.

Position the table away from direct sunlight and central heating sources to prevent movement in the timber, clean with a dry lint-free cloth, and apply beeswax annually along the grain.
