In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The beam is stamped AVERY and the scales are also marked W&T AVERY. They come with 4 various brass weights.
The scales are in very good condition and display well. The brass has tarnished slightly over time and there are signs of age and use and some minor marks but nothing detrimental. Although complete, they are really being sold as a decorative collectors item rather than an accurate scientific instrument.
