An antique Regency figured mahogany circular tilt-top dining and centre table with a striking segmented top, unusual pedestal base and seating for six.The circular top is beautifully veneered in radiating sections of richly figured mahogany, creating a dramatic sunburst effect. It is finished with a moulded edge and deep frieze, while the practical tilt-top mechanism allows the top to be raised vertically when not in use.The table is supported by a substantial shaped pedestal above a gadrooned collar and unusual concave-sided triform platform base. Three bold scrolling legs extend from the platform, each terminating in a rounded scroll foot fitted with a brass castor.The small gilt metal decorations applied to the scrolling sections are brass flowerhead paterae, also described as floral rosettes.
