Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian grand piano by Blüthner follows the German Classic style. Constructed from wood, cast iron and brass, the instrument is finished in a high gloss light grey paint. Notable details visible include square tapered legs, brass pedals, a curved rim, and white and black keys on the exposed keyboard, alongside the maker's lettering on the fallboard. The piano measures 198 cm in length, holds 88 notes across seven and a quarter octaves, and carries the serial number 29132 following a major refurbishment that included new strings. Suitable for placement in a dedicated music room, large living area or studio, the piece functions as both a fully playable musical instrument and a decorative centrepiece. The neutral light grey palette integrates easily into contemporary and traditional interior schemes alike. Performers and collectors can incorporate this instrument into daily practice, formal recitals or casual home entertaining.

FAQs

Founded in Leipzig, Germany, in 1853, Bluthner is renowned for producing high-quality acoustic pianos characterised by a warm tone and patented Aliquot stringing systems.

Grand pianos feature cast iron frames, solid spruce soundboards, hard maple pinblocks, and hardwood rims, combined with felt-covered hammers and precision action assemblies.

Authenticity is verified by the makers mark on the fallboard or cast iron frame, along with a unique serial number stamped on the soundboard or pinblock.

A neutral grey or off-white finish allows a grand piano to function as a architectural centrepiece in contemporary or eclectic living spaces without overwhelming existing colour schemes.

Maintain a stable room climate with relative humidity between 40 and 50 percent, keep the instrument away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and schedule regular tuning and regulation.
