Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian grand piano by C. Bechstein comes in an Art Deco style with a striking bright pink gloss lacquer finish. The wooden instrument features eighty-eight notes across seven and a quarter octaves, resting on square chrome legs with matching chrome pedals and an ornate carved sunburst fretwork music desk. The interior and working parts include re-strung wiring, new tuning pins, and new keys, whilst the exterior showcases the maker name C. Bechstein printed in black lettering above the keyboard lid. As a substantial musical instrument, it measures 198 cm in length, making it a prominent statement piece in a domestic interior. Home placement suits large living spaces, music rooms, or open-plan entertaining areas where musicians can play acoustic arrangements or use the instrument as a grand focal point in maximalist interior schemes.

FAQs

Founded in Berlin in 1853 by Carl Bechstein, C. Bechstein is renowned for producing high-specification acoustic pianos celebrated for their vocal tone, precise touch, and structural longevity throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.

Traditional grand pianos feature cast iron inner frames, solid spruce soundboards, rim cases made from hardwoods, and metalwork elements paired with weighted wooden key levers.

Authentic C. Bechstein pianos display the manufacturers mark printed or inlaid on the fallboard, alongside a serial number cast into the iron frame near the pinblock.

Position the instrument in an open architectural space where its profile serves as a central visual anchor, balancing vibrant lacquer hues against neutral backdrop walls and minimalist flooring.

Maintain stable humidity levels and avoid positioning the piano near direct sunlight or radiators to protect the timber soundboard and lacquer finish, using a dry microfibre cloth for surface dusting.
