Portable Diptych-dial, sundial with compass, Stockert/Beringer type, German, circa 1800.

Printed paper on wood, top with list of 58 towns and with latitudes.

String gnomon, vertical dial 58 to 38 degrees, string holes at 50, 48 and 38 degrees, hour scale VII to V. Horizontal dial concentric ovals for latitudes 40, 45, 50 and 55 degrees surround the compass, string hole at 40 °.

Compass points: NORD, NO, OST, SO, SUD, SW, WEST, NW with marked declination N 20 ° W.

12.5 x 7 x 1.5 cm.
