Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1910 Chinoiserie wine table takes the form of a small round stand constructed from dark brown hardwood. The circular top holds an inset light blue cloisonne enamel panel decorated with multi-coloured blossom flowers and birds. Beneath the top sits a pierced carved apron, leading down to a turned central pedestal column and cabriole tripod legs terminating in scroll feet. The piece measures 69 cm in height and 41 cm in width. Suitable for positioning at the end of a sofa in an English country house interior, this table provides a practical surface for resting small items. The hard timber finish and glazed enamel top offer a combination of decorative motifs and functional stability for daily domestic placement.

FAQs

Chinoiserie cloisonne furniture features Western furniture forms combined with Chinese decorative enamel techniques, incorporating fine metal wire inlay filled with coloured vitreous paste depicting flora, fauna, or landscape motifs.

These pieces typically combine a solid hardwood base, such as mahogany or rosewood, with a copper or bronze plaque decorated using fine wire cells filled with vitreous enamel glazes.

Authentic historic cloisonne displays hand-hammered wirework, subtle variations in enamel glaze thickness, minor pit marks from firing, and hand-carved wood joinery beneath the tabletop frame.

Position the piece as an accent table beside an armchair or within an empty nook to add tactile narrative, contrasting detailed enamel artistry against neutral contemporary upholstery.

Clean the enamel surface gently with a soft microfibre cloth slightly dampened with water, avoiding harsh chemicals, and treat the carved wooden frame periodically with natural beeswax polish.
