Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Blue John tazza is a decorative shallow bowl mounted on a pedestal stem, carved from Derbyshire fluorite known for its distinct purple, yellow, and white banding. Popularised during the 18th and 19th centuries, these pieces were frequently acquired as luxury decorative objects and Grand Tour souvenirs.

These objects are turned from Derbyshire Blue John, a mineral variety of fluorite found near Castleton in Derbyshire, England. They are typically mounted on bases crafted from black marble or slate to provide stability and contrast against the natural banding of the stone.

Authentic 19th-century examples present irregular colour veins ranging from deep violet to pale yellow, often accompanied by natural internal fissures. Early craftsmen applied rosin resin to strengthen the mineral during hand-turning, leaving subtle historical surface traits around the stem and foot.

A compact stone tazza functions effectively as a focal accent on a mantelpiece, desk, or bookshelf. Positioned near a source of ambient light, the translucent fluorite allows light to pass through, highlighting the rich internal colour banding.

Blue John is a soft mineral sensitive to heat and moisture. Clean by dusting gently with a soft dry cloth, avoiding contact with water, chemical solvents, or liquid polishes that could break down original resin binders.
