Of elegant small scale, the table retains its original shaped breccia marble top above a finely carved and pierced frieze, centred with a decorative cartouche.
The base is formed of bold cabriole supports with scrolling acanthus and foliate carving of good depth and definition, united by a shaped stretcher incorporating further carved detail. The carving displays the characteristic movement and asymmetry associated with the Rococo Revival, executed with confidence and restraint.
The original water-gilded surface displays a pleasing, mellow tone with light wear revealing the red bole beneath in places, adding warmth and character. The marble top is well figured with attractive colour variation and a shaped serpentine front, sitting well with the proportions of the base and almost certainly original to the piece.
A refined and highly decorative console table of very usable size, offering strong visual impact and increasingly difficult to find in this proportion and quality.

Condition:
Very good antique condition, commensurate with age. Structurally sound and stable. The original gilded surface shows minor rubbing and wear, consistent with age and use, revealing the underlying bole in places. The marble top is in good order with light surface wear. Carefully cleaned and well presented for use.
