Wakizashi Mounting. Edo Period Samurai Short Sword

The wakizashi being worn together with the katana was the official sign that the wearer was a samurai. This one is late 18th century tang unsigned blade out of polish and showing some blemishes, unusual Saya, iron Tsuba superbly decorated, the tsuka very ornate, length in total 71 cm height 7 cm depth being 7 cm, reference BBC2.
