Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this Chinese Hardstone Bonsai Tree to the 1920s.
It represents a flowering Prunus bonsai tree.

The bonsai tree trunk is made from wire and finished with great detail in pottery. The fine branches are also made from wire and finely finished with a binding of green silk thread.
The multitude of brightly coloured flowers and buds are hand carved in beautiful natural agate hardstone.

Each individual flower has five separate petals, and the centres have a multitude of fine stamens, which are produced in yellow Peking glass and mounted onto individual fine wires.
The colour of the agate stone varies on the spectrum of colours from pale translucent cream to a rich reddish orange.

The condition of this delightful and highly decorative object is very good. There are a few light firing cracks in the enamel in one corner of the rim of the tree’s container.
There is no loss or damage.
