A well-crafted late 19th-century umbrella stand, constructed in richly figured oak and bound with decorative brass bands. The cylindrical form is both practical and visually striking, featuring a gently moulded rim and a stepped plinth base that provides stability while enhancing its classical proportions. The warm tone of the timber is complemented by the mellow patina of the brass, creating a refined contrast that highlights the quality of the materials.

A cast lion’s head mask with ring handle adorns the front, adding a subtle decorative flourish typical of traditional English hall furniture. The interior retains its original removable metal liner, finished in a muted green, designed to protect the wood from moisture and ensure longevity in everyday use.
